AusDBF is seeking a National Coach to provide leadership nationally in the development of coaches and athletes in the sport. The position will be responsible to and at the direction of the AusDBF Board of Directors and is a new role absorbing and expanding upon the previous functions relating to coach development and the coaching of Team Australia. This new half-time position with a major focus on development across the sport, is offered for an extended period of 4 years to enhance participation, development and performance. It will also afford the successful applicant a suitable period to put into effect longer-term development strategies at all levels and guide them to success. AusDBF has been working with its state members to identify a local lead coach or state coach within their jurisdiction. This approach is now in its second year and is an investment to progress a national cascading coaching framework that would enhance coaching capability across Australia in the sport. This approach will help to better support athletes at whatever level they are seeking to participate in through improved coaching and enable the identification of talented athletes to progress into elite categories. Dragon Boat in Australia is an amateur sport spread across the country with limited and variable financial and physical resources. In framing activities of what can be achieved, recognition of the available resources and financial limitations of athletes, clubs, States and nationally need to be considered.
