This is a unique opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership role at a premier Shute Shield rugby club located on the North Shore of Sydney. The Club has a proud history, recently celebrating its 125 year and its on field performance, having not missed a Preliminary Final in First Grade since 2016, sets it amongst the best Clubs in the competition. The Club is exploring interest from people for either a part time GM role focussing on the more corporate aspects of a General Manager position as well as a Full Time position which will incorporate training and game day operational management. As a part time General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the club's off-field operations and driving its strategic objectives. Our vision is to be the premier club in the Shute Shield competition, consistently contending for the championships across all teams while fostering a high-performance culture that runs from our junior pathways through to our senior teams and is guided by our motto; ‘Better the person, Better the player, Better the community’. We are committed to building a strong, financially sustainable club that is deeply connected to its community and provides an exceptional experience for players, members, sponsors, and supporters. - Reports to: Board of Directors Key Responsibilities The General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the club's off field operations. This is a multi-faceted role with the following key areas of responsibility: 1\. Leadership & Operations - Assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management of all commercial operations of the Club.

  • In consultation with the Treasurer and Board, prepare and manage the Club’s annual budget, ensuring all financial targets are met.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive reporting to the Board of Directors, including the preparation of board packs for all monthly meetings.
  • Ensure the efficient administration of the club, including compliance with all relevant governing bodies and the management of grants and applications. 2\. Commercial Growth & Stakeholder Engagement - Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders including local and state government, North Sydney Council, Sydney Rugby Union, NSWRU, and Rugby Australia.
  • Drive the club’s commercial growth by identifying and securing new sponsors, while nurturing existing partner relationships to ensure maximum retention and value.
  • Lead the planning and execution of all major club events, including the Season Launch, Bon Andrews Luncheon, and Presentation Night, to drive revenue and engagement.
  • Grow the club’s membership base by devising and implementing valuable membership categories and benefits. 4\. Marketing, Brand & Community - Build the Club’s brand and profile within the community, with a focus on strengthening ties with local schools and junior rugby clubs.
  • Oversee the club's marketing and communication strategy, including the management of the club website, social media channels, and weekly newsletters.
  • Act as a visible and accessible leader within the club, fostering a positive, inclusive, and "club-first" culture for players, volunteers, and members. Ideal Candidate Profile - Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with sponsors, government entities, governing bodies, and community groups.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue through sponsorship, membership, and events.
  • A hands-on and versatile leader who thrives on wearing multiple hats, with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong financial literacy, with experience in preparing and managing budgets
