Purpose of the Role To oversee the junior coaching and football program, through the effective management of junior team coaches, and implement a consistent game style and strategy across our boys’ and mixed football program that is aligned with our One Club Pathways structure and IP.
Qualifications & Desirable Characteristics
- Strong leadership, communication and mediation skills.
- Experience in coaching junior football teams.
- Hold or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check.
- A willingness to engage and collaborate with the coaches across the program to educate them on the Club’s consistent game style and strategy
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the junior Club’s boys’ and mixed coaching strategy and structure including but not limited to; - Recruit, mentor and support coaches across boys’ and mixed age groups at training and on match days. - Ensure consistent and high-quality training aligned with the Club’s football philosophy. - Support and assist with all club initiatives around player development and welfare. - Liaise with adjacent Girls’ Director of Coaching and Club Head of Development to promote collaboration and ensure alignment. - Assist in facilitating coach education, season planning and performance reviews. - Assist Coaches with the grading of teams within age groups where grading is relevant. - Assist Junior Incident Officer/Secretary to determine best course of action on game day for player and parent related incidents. - Assist with mid and end of season reviews of all coaches under your supervision to provide feedback to the committee for forward planning. - Provide recommendations where possible to the Club’s Head of Development and Junior Committee for team coach appointments
- Support the performance and development of junior boys’ and mixed coaches by; - Ensuring that the coaches clearly understand their role and responsibilities to the teams - Assist in the provision of development feedback to junior boys’ and mixed coaches - Be familiar with and champion compliance with the Club’s mission statement, values and policies - Be familiar with and champion compliance with SMJFL By laws that relate to player movement and eligibility to advise your direct reports and team coaches as required - Recommend new equipment where required - Managing and ensuring that all team coaches have completed and have a current mandatory AFL approved coaching accreditation.
Minimum Time Commitment This is a part time role where hours are negotiable. Indicatively, the season lasts 18 rounds, plus 7 extra weeks paid pre/post season. Exact number of teams to be confirmed once registrations are finalised.
