Position Status: Part Time (0.6 FTE) Location: ActivateUTS \| UTS Sport Office \| 745 Harris Street, UTS Building 4, Level 2, Ultimo NSW 2007 Reports To: Manager, UTS Sport About the Role ActivateUTS is seeking an experienced Head of Strength & Conditioning to lead performance programming across UTS Sport’s high-performance environment. This role is responsible for designing and delivering evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for High Performance Clubs, intervarsity teams, and individual elite athletes. Reporting to the Manager, UTS Sport, you will also supervise Strength & Conditioning Coaches, oversee the UTS Elite Athlete Gym, and develop pathways for student engagement through internships and education initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about athlete development, coaching excellence, and building a high-performing, inclusive sport environment. Key Responsibilities Program Design & Delivery

  • Design, implement and monitor strength and conditioning programs for elite athletes, High Performance Clubs, and intervarsity teams.
  • Ensure programs are evidence-based and aligned with sport-specific performance requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with athletes, coaches, and stakeholders to monitor progress and adjust training plans as required.
Coach Management & Development
  • Supervise and support Strength & Conditioning Coaches in program delivery.
  • Build consistency and capability in coaching standards across sports.
  • Coordinate S&C staff rostering in collaboration with the Sports Hall Coordinator to ensure effective coverage of gym and coaching duties.
Pathways & Internships
  • Develop and oversee a structured S&C internship program for UTS students.
  • Create and maintain a database of programming resources for clubs, athletes, and teams.
  • Provide mentoring and professional development for interns and junior coaches.
Athlete Education & Development
  • Plan and deliver athlete development workshops covering key high-performance topics such as nutrition, recovery, and mental health.
  • Engage external specialists to support holistic athlete development.
  • Coordinate athlete development days focused on wellbeing and performance.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with high-performance bodies and partner organisations on athlete load management and training schedules.
  • Actively engage with UTS Sport Clubs and external partners to expand the reach and impact of S&C services.
  • Promote the value of strength and conditioning across broader club and program networks.
Facilities & Equipment
  • Oversee the maintenance, improvement, and functionality of the UTS Elite Athlete Gym.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-performing training environment for all users.
About You Essential Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering strength and conditioning programs
  • Strong understanding of high-performance sport environments
  • Experience supervising staff and coordinating team-based operations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of athlete development principles and training load management
  • Awareness of cultural diversity within sport and education settings
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Science, or a related field
  • Accredited Strength & Conditioning qualification (ASCA Level 2 preferred or equivalent)
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Current motor vehicle licence
